Scott Hillman was born and raised in Roanoke, Virginia. Drawing since childhood, he graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art. Scott began a career in landscaping, allowing him to use his creativity in designing and executing outdoor spaces. He has created landscapes unique to the individual elements of client and nature.
My watercolors reflect a view of a segmented world that is interdependent, where the total is dependent on the individuality of each segment and each segment is by design connected and dependent on the whole. Our lives have a totality about them and yet even our memory is divided into a series of minuets that together form the construction of who we are at present. We cannot see the whole but for the pieces. All of nature is thus tied to a stream of segmented experiences and we to that stream. The interpenetration and transparent quality of the subject matter reflect but one abstracted viewpoint of a series of timelines in an otherwise three dimensional world.
